Pet Projects by Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne

I Thought that I would share my thoughts on this book "Pet Projects by Sally Muir". Well I love it, it pretty much doesn't get better. I absolutely love knitting for my "fur-babies" and this book offered me plenty of projects from toys to blankies. I am not someone who typically raves about pattern books ((((( because))))) I have always knitted and crocheted what came naturally from within me. A few of the patterns were just dreamy, for-instance the mouse-mat on page 63. The water-lily for my goldfish page 52-53...and get this the water-lily is made out of plastic bags. I also love the horse blanket on page 55-57, which gave the option for customization. The is also an adorable pattern for a hamster hideout.  This book is well worth the asking price. I did a little research and found this book on Amazon for under $15.00. Enough rambling here is the link to check out the specks on the book.... Link followed Pet Projects: The Animal Knits Bible

Tawashi Style Duster Pattern

I have gotten in the mood for some spring cleaning! Have you? I created this pattern to share with you, if you want to clean your house... also.  No sales of the pattern are allowed not even on Etsy. You can however make as many dusters as you want and sell them at fairs, school fundraisers, bazaars or online.

Duster size: You can adjust the pattern to fit your hand

Supplies:
Scraps of worsted weight yarn in two colors
Size 3.25mm hook

With hook, chain 16 using a tangerine color yarn (more or less stitches depending on your hand size,)
Row 1: Single crochet to end, turn.
Row 2: Loop Stitch to end of row, turn.
Continue repeating the loop stitch pattern until the tawashi is your desired width.
To finish; switch to gray yarn, crochet around the tawashi's sides using single crochet.
Make strap by crocheting four or five stitches on one side of the tawashi using gray yarn. Crochet these stitches to make a strap. You will need to crochet about 16 rows using single crochet. Sew the straps end to the other side of the tawashi.

Stitches Used:
LOOP ST Insert hook in next st, swing hook around yarn from left to right clockwise. Using head of hook, grab yarn under fingers and draw through work leaving formed loop over index finger. Drop loop to backside and pick up end of yarn, YO, draw through remaining loops on hook

Single Crochet: Insert hook in next st, YO, pull up a loop, YO, and draw through all loops on hook
Please ignore my lousy photo!

Handmade Dog Treats

My neighbor just got a new dog to add to their very long list of pets, so I decided to make "Mamma The Dog" a little treat to welcome her. And then I thought I should probably share the recipe with everyone on the Good Ol BambooPear Blog.

Recipe is as follows:
You will need to preheat the oven to 300 degrees,You will need a rolling pin, cutting board, a large bowl, a cookie sheet, a spatula, a bone shaped cookie cutter.

Ingredients
1 cups flour
1/8 cup HOT water
4 Beef bouillon Cubes (CRUSHED)
1cup wheat germ
1/2 teaspoon sugar
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 package of ACTIVE dry Yeast
3/4 cup of tomato juice

Pour the HOT water in the bowl, add the yeast and bouillon and let stand for about five minutes or so.
Add the tomato juice, 1/2 cup of the flour, and all of the wheat germ mix till it forms a nice satin-smooth batter. Mix in the remaining ingredients. Mix until it forms a stiff ball of dough.

Roll the dough on a floured cutting board, it should be about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out bones with your cookie cutter and bake for an hour and 15 minutes. Let them set for a few hours to harden .

ENJOY
